I have been baking since long time ago though it is not often. It is not my main hobby so I dont really explore it. While ago I made a chocolate cake based on a recipe book. In the book, the brown color was so dark and it looked yummy! So i made it. I was confused, my cake wasnt that brown and the taste was so so. I talked about it and my friend said, there are some chocolate powder brands and i have to ask which one is the strongest chocolate ‘aroma and taste’. To be honest, I JUST knew it! I thought it was kind of standard like flour or sugar. Hahaha. Usually, I bought chocolate powder at regular supermarket. There are not many options. That time, I went to cake supplies shop. I followed my friend suggestion and then bought a kind of chocolate (shop product). It was great! My cake is so soooo chocolate and so tasty! Even for basic sponge cake recipe. Today, I went there again and told the store lady, the chocolate is so great! She asked if i had tried (i forgot the exact name) bradsford (a brand). I said, not yet. She said, the quality was above the chocolate powder I bought. I and my friend discussed a bit about it. She thought, perhaps chocolate powder in supermarket was mainly for drinks. I was like “aaaaa!!” A good thought. Perhaps, not only chocolate powder, but other ingredients are also at different quality rate (it is subjective though. Haha. For some ppl it is ok, for others, it is not ok). I remember, my brother in law asked about other flour brand because he didnt feel the current he was using was suitable for his bread. There are different sugar types and size too. Some recipes asks for using specific sugar. Even if you are not serious in baking or just doing it for fun like me, it is better to go to cake supplies shop when buying ingredients. It is because when cakes taste not really good or so so, well, we might not be excited to eat it and leave it after some slices. 😞. It is food wasting. (Well…though there is a recipe using un-eaten cake to make bread snack. 😀. Still, we have to spend another time to make a new cake).
