This is quite odd. I rolled my cake last night after it is quite cold. A little bit warm but only biiiit. It was ok. No peeling skin when i rolled it and wrapped it with baking paper. I then put it in the fridge overnight. This. In the morning, i opened the paper, the roll cake skin was peeled!
Probable Cause:
The cake was not totally cool or the cake surface was not totally baked. When roll cake is cool, we can feel whether the surface is still wet or not. When we take it out from the oven, the surface may be dry but after cooling down, it becomes WET. So, we have to bake it again to dry the surface. I didn’t bake the cake like before as i didnt want to make the surface dark like before. So, may be the surface was not too dry and I didnt feel it as may be it was still very slightly warm inside the cake (not surface).
There is also probability the ‘water’ or moist caused by the fridge made the cake surface wet even i had wrapped it. If the cake was not totally cool, it may have impact. Yet, it was ok if the cake was totally cool. I dont know how to explain it. Haha. I am not sure abt it though.
Note:The recipe used only corn or maizena flour. No other flour type.
Solution: i will just bake it as usual next time. Hahaha. It is ok a little bit dark and make sure the cake is totally cool. No slightly warm or so. Just cool. Or, i won’t wrap the cake with paper when putting inside the fridge. #rollcake #rollcaketips
